Tiny kindness and blessing :)

Something simple happened to me today. Tiny bits of kindness can put a smile on us and makes us happy.

When I came back from class today, I saw 2 young girls sitting by the stairs of my dormitory. I look their way and one of them threw me a smile, so I smiled back and continued walking. These girls are some of the many girls that maintain and clean the surrounding and washroom of our dorms. Some people might not one to be associated to them at all, what more talk to them. I myself most of the time treat them as  some kind of invisible being, perhaps due to prejudice.

Something on the bulletin board attracted my curious attention, so I stopped by and read. Suddenly, one of the girls stood up, walked to me and said: “kak, ada nak tanya, boleh?” So I replied: “ya, apa tu?” “skarang jam brapa?” My hands were fully occupied with food and drinks I just bought from the cafeteria, so I asked her to lend me a hand while I search for my phone to check the time. Apparently their phone ran out of battery. She thanked me. Her friend thanked me too. “terima kasih ya kak.. semoga berjaya.. amin…” I returned their thanks and can’t help but smile.

By just answering their simple request, I had their blessings. It might not seem to be a big deal, but I realized although it’s not easy to get random blessings from strangers, it is not impossible. By just giving a little kindness, we have a smile and blessing in return.  Smile for being kind, and smile for being blessed.

A Photo Summary of My First Year in UMS

A photo summary of my first year in UMS. Yes, that's what this post is all about after I have gone MIA for more than half a year. Please accept my apologies.

So here goes.
JULY. yup, that's when my journey started with this:
Orientation. As I mentioned in my previous post, it wasn't as bad as I thought. In fact, it was quite pleasant.

This was taken after we finished our (long and tiring) registration at the Canselor Hall. I was so well dressed. No more baju kurungs after that

First of all, I shall introduce you to the people I live with, my roomates:
Chel, me and Nang.. Nang bought us the Kuching shirt and we are trying to be kitties up there. I dont happen to have Ivy's photo..

we always eat together. this was the photo taken after one of the rayas. thx nang!

Next I shall introduce you to my coursemates:
yes, I am a biotechnology student, and these are my coursemates. Skema, I know!

this one is the more relax side of us.

I love this :)

these are some of the people I spend most of my time with :)

 these too :)

on one fine day, we saw something in the sky, so we excitedly discuss about it..

dont ask me what was discussed. I believe a large part of the discussion turn out to be nonsense.

then there was the *disasterous* bbq picnic.
Chicken all ready aside, Yuva and the gang tried to start the fire

1 hour later...
we fail to get it burning! oh no.. to avoid the sun from grilling the chicken for us, we hid them in the box..

and the rest of the good-for-nothing girls, well, we put a turtle to life :)

the other happy time would be:
celebrating the January babies' birthday! Happy Big Day Ain, Leong n Darren!!
Oh! I almost forgotten the ranau trip!

the fish spa at (i forgot the name of the river) aka tagal..

this photo is a bit obscene..hehe

Dibah trying to woo the fish :)

Next spot, the Poring hot spring

trekking before the canopy walk I supposed

and finally the canopy

coupled with more fun in the water.

Last but not least, Kinabalu park..
.. that's where we had our dinner. freezing c.o.l.d!..

this was probably one of the not so happy time for us..
*sigh* this is depressing, isn't it?

and THIS is definitely our hobby and favourite pass time!

for cocuricullar activity, there was Kompang assembly where
 we went to Beaufort

 and also Kuala Penyu

and performed for Karnival Kokum

then there was family days!
that's one day before my birthday

only a handful of us went

these are my group members. they were awesome!

this was taken during SST family day. Just got to know clare and hel. Gori Pijah busy with the cube.
there were also a whole lot of hanging outs to reduce and eliminate the stress..
I like this photo a lot ^^
This is rare. We look so chinese here. blame Anton's flash and 3 shots!

more hang outs

and even more delicious hang outs!

we excape class hang out at the odec too when class was cancelled.. we look so carefree here, but you should see the next picture.

talie look so stressed. clarice is making a sad face. me? well, I'm happily eating. nothing can take the stress away better than good food :)

not forgeting hanging out with Pijah (my roommate in matrix) and Adrian Leslie (my tutorial mate, also back in matrix)

If any of you wonders why am I developing extra wrinkles by the day, you can blame the labs and lab reports :)

that's how messy my table is when I'm writing my report. books piling up :)

the DNA bands are pretty!!

okay, this figure is a bit.. confusing. yes.

this is an eye test. let's see who can spot what's wrong with this photo/ form? please click to enlarge

 colourful marine diatoms

 nope, that's not food

i dont know who did the streaking, but it's nice and well done!

hygiene is important in the lab after playing with bacteria :)

Poor Yuva had to poke all his fingers for the blood test

Finally I shall end this post with this:

the most hilarious, epic and priceless moment, the look on Leong's face :)

Goodbye 1st year, we shall meet again in 2nd year :)
