Teachers Featuring Mdm Theresa Lee

okay, today i shall write about mdm theresa lee choon moi (did i get that right?), our dearest add maths teacher, the one and only guru pakar, best in sabah , sabah and sabah =)

*i'm attempting to make is sounds like PCK, but i think i just failed horribly. oops!!*

i actually enjoyed add maths, but sadly i get a B3 for that subject. wahaha.. you know what, among the cemerlang A students, she told me that she was not confident that i would get an A, so yeah.. it turned out that way *sob*.

anyway, cg theresa has a very-very.. let's just put it this way : she has a UNIQUE sense of humour and sarcasm. and she speaks a whole lot of chinese english, which sounds cute really. "like that one ah?" and sometimes she goes "are you sureeeeee?" stressing the word sure. she's really good in add maths (obviously, other wise she wouldnt be a guru pakar) to the point that she can do probably any add maths question you give her. sometimes we think that she's one of the living add maths calculator, in a way it is true, right? and she does it real fast. there are times when she teach that we just simply got lost half way. and she'll ask which one we dont understand. and we'll say all, from the beginning. you know why? coz we cant relate to the question asked. and there were also times when she skipped steps, thinking that we can catch up, and we'll just go like "teacher! where you get that?" "how come like that?" then after she explain, we'll let out a long "oooooooooohhhhh" and she'll laugh at our foolishness (in a way its foolish)

cg theresa or sometimes i call her cg lee is a very very tall lady and she has quite a big body frame. she's not fat at all okay, just that she's big size.. u know what i mean? sometimes i suspect that she might be mix blood, i mean western mix blood. and she has a very distinct dress code, well at least in my partner in crime and my opinion. most of the time, if she doesnt wear baju kurung or kebaya, then she will wear long skirts. i have a feeling that she fancy clothes that cover up her legs, heh. and her top will mostly be 3/4 long sleeves. occasionally she wears short skirts though, but not that often.

the advantage of having a guru pakar to teach you is the fact that you learn shortcuts. and no matter how hard the Q is, she will be able to find one way or another to explain to you why is it like that. at least it works with the formula la.. add maths is never explainable, it's too abstract. you just have to fill in the numbers into the formula and work it out. there's not much logic you can figure out from the formulas, unless you're a genius, of cause! any way, the not so good thing ( but some times, can still be good) thing about guru pakar is the fact that she travels a bit too often. every now and then we dont have a teacher in class to teach us. so sometimes our syllabus will have to be cramped, 2 classes= 1 class. and some times we have to stay back to repay the 'lost class' . the good thing about that is, we can procrastinate and not do our homework. hehe... but sometimes when she's gone for 1 week after another, we are like abandoned children (but she never abandoned us la!)

if there was any jokes about her in class, i think it might have slipped off our mind. but i'm 100% sure that no one will forget this particular joke, a joke between cg theresa and raymond.

*note: dialogue may not be exactly the same, but roughly it's the same. well, at least the story line is there!

scene: teacher teaching, raymond asleep behind. well, at least half asleep if not really asleep.
T: raymond! what are you doing?
R: *wakes up*
T: are you asleep ah? what time did you sleep last night?
R: 4am (or was it 2? nevermind)
T: 4 am ah? so late ah? i wonder what did you do ?
R: watch drama with my brother
T: what drama
R: hong kong drama
T: hong kong drama ah? very good.. and how old is your bother?
R: 12 years old.
T: 12 years old. upsr ah?
R: ya
T: wah.. boleh tahan ah, one upsr one spm, watch hong kong drama until 4 am ahhh..
* smiles sarcastically and continue teaching*

obviously everyone laughed at raymond for being so frank. okay now tell me, who doesn't remember this incident?? remember kan? nah..i told you. now go buy me a cub of yoyo drink. i want yam milky tea with pudding k, send to my house.

one thing about this teacher is the fact that she has rather sharp ears. being me, i monologue a lot. and it's rather embarrassing when she caught what i said. shessh. and she ALways repeat after me. *sigh*

Teachers Featuring Mdm Judith Donsia

mdm judith donsia, probably mdm jen's best friend. she teaches us Biology back in form 4 and the 1st half of form 5 (before me collin took over). she is probably the teacher who could reach out to the students most easily.that's because she doesnt treat us as her students, but as her friend. but of cause there's a limit. so it's not a suprise that we love her her very much. because the bonding is rather different and strong. we enjoyed her class very much, and she has another best friend in the lab: the skeleton man =) she's the type who would teach biology, get out of the topic for a while (but still related to biology), and get back to the topic. so, her class is very interesting. well, i personally think that she is our best biology teacher (compare to mr collin who stress us out a lot and mdm crispina who talks too much, especially about herself) and most of all, she is willing to listen to her students. and being the amanahs, she always ask for our opinion, especially when it comes to co-curicular activities aka kokum. why? because she was our senior assistant for co-curicular activities. on top of that, she's very sweet and kind to me, always let me use her PC to do my kebajikan stuff. so nice working with her =)

when she told us she was transfering, we were like "NO!!!!!!"
"before i leave, i will finish this topic with you first." that's what she said. well, at least she didnt transfer because she hates St Michael or something. we know that she LOVES st michael. she's been teaching here since the very 1st day she became a teacher until the day she became the senior asst. the reason she transferred was because of her kenaikan pangkat aka promotion, so what can we say? the 5 amanahs and dedikasis even made a slide show presentation for her on her last day of school. thanks to lyna, talie, niky and the gang. she was so touched and shock that she forgoten all about her good bye speech that she's been reversing (is that the word?) for god-knows how many time. she was sobbing during her speech, and it kindda didn't make much sense. haha! thanks to the slide presentation! and the saddest part was the sending off, even i cried. (there are things that we share, thats why..hehe) and sheesh, i never cry when sending teachers off. it's not like the went to heaven!

anyway, enough about the sad part. well, there's one thing that i used to not understand, but now i understand already la.. people always say that she is raymond's mother. if you observe close enough, it's true! funny isnt it? but that doesnt mean that she loves him more! she's a super caring teacher, and a very motivative one too. on the day we sat for our biology paper during SPM, she even came all the way to school just to see use and give us support. her very presence, does motivate us (well, i have friends that says that, and i agree). see? that prove how much of a caring and dedicated teacher she was and still is.

besides that, she's one of the observant teacher. she observes people and her students. sometimes it's scary to know the fact that people is watching you, dont you think so? her teaching technique is simple, sometimes she makes us read from the text book but most of the tie she will sum up everything and yada2 to us. if you pay enough attention, you will know the necessary information. but if you need to know more, of cause you have to open the book the read then. normally her class is held in class, but if she needs the projector or when she wants us to carry out some lab work, we would go to the lab. she always tell us stories and sharing, that's why we always get out of topic. oh yeah, she loves her family very much, it shows!hehe. if i'm not mistaken, she is a botanist, or is it mdm jen? i thnk i'm starting to mix up my facts (please correct me if i'm wrong)

when it comes to administrating, she's not the sweet her, seriously. and it's bad when she's angry. she will shout (but she can never beat chua,maimon and hasalinda!). well, i cant blame her for shouting to some people who make a fool of themselves! and doing stupid things like ponteng kokum. kokum aint that bad if you put your heart into it. i mean common, if you dont put your heart into studies, then put it into kokum then. otherwise you have nothing to talk about high school 10-20 years from now! BORING!! besides if you dont put your heart into these two things while in high school, then where should you put your heart into? cyber games? if you are making money then go ahead, other wise store it safely in your body (yeah, whatever. anyone get my sacarsm?) you see, when she's angry its because she cares. generally she would make this dont-mess-with-me tone during assembly. but in class, she's as sweet as honey. right people? agree with me?

in a nut shell, she's nice, caring, dedicated and sweet. not funny though. i'm not saying she doesnt have sense of humour okay, it's just that she doesnt make jokes, right?

well, that's what normally happens in class. most of the time the students ignores her. i'm one of them who actually bothers to respond to her questions. when i'm tired of it, i'll ignore her too.
but i dont understand why are my classmates ignoring her? anyone bother to tell me? sometimes she will look at me straight in the eyes, demanding an answer. and i'll be like, damn! why me again? and answer her reluctantly.. if i dont, she will look at ricky. but this normally only happens when it's non related to physics. when it's related to physics, then shana will be her target. sometimes i pity her, but who asked her to be the smarthead in my class =D and i remembered once, when shana, ricky and i went for this moral education quiz, all the questions were directed to christabel. she was so pissed off she posted in friendster. hahaha! well, lets share the pain, hehe

mdm jen is the asst class teacher of my class. if i'm not mistaken, she have some qualification in landscaping. not many knows that she does landscaping for our school, but i doubt that the ladang concept comes from her though!

anyway, i think of all our subject teachers, mdm jen is the most dedicated one. she really drill our physics like i-dont-know-what! for the last 3 months or so before SPM, she actually made us do this physics paper 3 exercises 80% of the time she enters the class. we did it until we got so sick of it. i'm serious, really sick of them. although we complain (behind her back) but i think we are also thankful to have such a great teacher. well, at least most of us still finish her work. on top of that, she set a target for each of us. there's one term, she left a comment/note on my report card.

try and get 85% in the next exam

i was so shock and speechless, i just stared at her comment and shut the world out of me. i pity mr melvin, because he was commenting on my result and i wasnt even listening, thanks to mdm jen! she even "bribe" us to get an A for physics in SPM. guess how much are we getting for an A in SPM? RM 50! $$ that's what she is, she really pushes us to the limit and wants the best out of us.

few weeks before spm, she even made copies of papers from all over Malaysia for us. our class looks like a printing house i tell you! we have complete sets of questions from MRSM, sekolah kluster/asrama penuh, terengganu, perak and kuching. and we get all that for FREE. other teachers will make us pay, but we got it for free. we are so damn lucky!

but one thing that we dont like about her is that she frowns too much. if she is my mother, i would have said : mom, stop frowning, you look old! she have nice smile though =) when she teach, she tries and make sure the students understand what on earth is she teaching. but there are times that we dont understand, for example, when we first learnt about logic gates, our pick up was slow, she had to keep on repeating it. at the end of it i think she got irritated. "understand already?" "aiyo! masi tidak faham ah?""mana yang kamu tidak faham?" "okay, let's do it again"
i guess we really tested her patience, but she's great. and if you have any problem in physics, dont hesitate to look for her, she will definitely help you. i even asked her for help while doing my addmaths project. the addmaths project was related to some physics concept.

oh yeah, one more thing. this might not be obvious, but i worked with her before, so i know. she's a perfectionist. hands down, i loose. if you think i am a perfectionist (not when it comes to typing though), then she is one hell of a perfectionist (pardon my language please). last year, she was working together with ms chua as the teacher adviser of our club. i was the asst secretary back then, but i did most of the reports at the 2nd half of the term. and my experience was.. oh dear!!!! you spelled one word wrongly means that you have to reprint your whole report again. no excuse; no mercy. ms chua, also known as a perfectionist, would only ask me to make amendments with the correction pen. which makes life much easier!

p/s: now you know why PBL team could win the competition!

well, as i promised, i'll write about my teachers. i cant write everything about them, so i'll just write about what i can think of okay? besides, being me, it would probably be VERY long. so hypothesis is: the lesser i can remember, the shorter it will be. so let's start off with form 5 subject teachers.

MR MELVIN OON TECK LIANG aka cikgu oon/ooi
who teaches us Chemistry. the subject that i like but am weak at. i dont know why, but the students seem to think that he resembles this panda-looking-like bear. maybe the kungfu panda, po? it's really funny, coz well, there's similarities =P even my mother agrees with that *rolls eyes* mr melvin (i prefer to call him cikgu oon, i dont know why, i only know that he hates it) is a very weird guy (in a good way) why? well, coz we(the students) are full of devil, and he just go coooooooooool all the time. sometimes, i wonder, doesn't he have the anger hormone (dunno the scientific name) in him?

well, he's a new teacher. and when he first came (replacing cg fiona), we thought that he is a SHE.
his name was even spelled wrongly, ooi teck liang <---- no one knows he is a HE! and the first rumour i heard about him was, gemuk. it turned out to be true. haha.. he is from kuala penyu, and graduated from UMS. i think he had a very hard time trying to control us. but seriously, i dont think he minds it. i think he actually enjoys teaching us.well, what can i say? my class is very good when it comes to bullying our teachers. especially the junior teachers.

normally, during his class, only some of us will be listening. eg: ricky, kenny, lyna, talie, me, sometimes lilian, maybe ruth, sharyn, ball, bel, shana and maybe sum others. these are the people that i know bother to listen la... but most of the time we do other things. and when we get bored, we sleep or talk. on top of that, all the class issues (like pertandingan, class t shirt, class party etc) will be discussed during his class. and our spokeladies are of cause lyna and talie, the secretary n treasurer of the class. when they try to end the discussion, he'll say like: tidak apa, sambung2.. which means, say goodbye to our chemistry period.

cg oon is not really a super good teacher when it comes to teaching in a big group. he'll have to work on making us pay attention and listen. if only he can work on that, i think he'll go far.
im my opinion, he is a good teacher because he knows what he's teaching. being the inquisitive student, i've always asked him chemistry questions. and he always give me good answers and explanations (at least i think so). he even tells me how to do it right. the only problem with him is that, sometimes he gets mix up. but that doesnt happen often. so no worries.

on top of that, he is quite close to us. i mean his students. at least he is close to people like lyna, talie, ruth and carol (just some examples) well, like i said, he doesnt teach much. so sometimes he just cerita2 la with lyna and talie. please dont blame me for eavesdropping. i cant help it, coz lyna and talie are sitting next to me!! i cant pretend to be deaf when he's voice IS audible, right?

one funny story was the one where he talks about his girlfriend. if i'm not mistaken, i remember something about proposal (interesting?) he even talks about what happen when girl-boy fight =)
sometimes he even tells the class about his date (im sure you guys remembers this) he went to the beach and didnt switch on his head light. it happened twice right? anyway, there's one day when everyone was busy and noisy doing i-forgot-what. and suddenly he asked us to shush! he said he have got something important to tell us. and guess what it was? if i'm not mistaken, he told us about some football match result. i was a bit pissed at that moment in time, but come to think of it, it's funny. do you know that he was an altar boy? the ketua lagi tu!!

by the way, he is sweet enough to prepare our graduation file (thank you!!) with the help of my friends who attend his tuition class of cause. and i know that caroline always jadi mangsa when he needs help. but they look like siblings to me.. hehe. i even tried to call him koko. lol, koko melvin. during our marching and senamrobik practice, he even come to give us support. so what can i say? we have a very supportive,cool, kind and sweet class teacher. what more can we ask for? i'll just remember his funny laugh =)
